The Brazilian Carnival, properly spelled Carnaval, is an annual festival in Brazil that started at the beginning of this week. Brazilian Carnival exhibits some differences from its European counterparts, having mixed African, Native and Euro elements. The photos below are from Rio de Janeiro, where parades are led by samba schools.
